Directions:

Step 1. Hold a dumbbell in each hand at your side. Do not rest the weight on your body so as to keep light pressure on the muscles at all times.

Step 2. Raise one arm in front of you until the dumbbell is just above the shoulder and hold.

Step 3. Return the dumbbell to the starting position and repeat with the other arm.

Notes:

The dumbbell front raise works the frontal deltoid. It can be used as either a shaping and development or a size and strength exercise. The front dumbbell raise is a simple exercise but it can be performed in a variety of ways. The exercise can be performed with both arms at the same time or one arm at a time. If one arm at a time is preferred, the user can alternate arms or perform all the repetitions with one arm before switching to the other. The height to which the weight is raised also determines how exactly the exercise works. If the weight is raised above the shoulder, the traps are engaged at the top of the motion in addition the frontal deltoid.
