Description
Step 1. Put your right arm overhead, bend your right elbow, and place your right hand on your upper back. Keep your forearm as close as possible to your upper arm.
Step 2. With your left hand, grasp your right elbow.
Step 3. Slowly pull your right elbow back and towards your head. Hold for 20 to 30 seconds. Continue to breath rhythmically and slowly. Do not hold your breath.
Step 4. Ease out of the stretch, switch arms, and repeat.
Notes:
The tricep stretch is an alternating arm stretch that stretches the triceps muscles. This exercise is important because triceps are used in all pressing motions, including those in chest and shoulder workouts. The user should be careful not to stretch too far or stretch too hard. This can do more harm than good. Stretching is important and should be incorporated in all exercise routines. Stretching can help limit injury to the ligaments and muscles. By stretching the muscle before working out, you can actually lift more weight.
